Friday Favorites- J. Crew

As much as I love winter & bundling up... I have to admit that there are lots of great Summer clothing out in stores right now. I am crazy over the styles at J.Crew right now. If I had an unlimited budget (living in a dream world, again), almost every piece of clothing in that store would be mine. 

Their sandals are amazing !! They're a little on the pricey side but the quality & comfort is worth it. From rhinestones to gold metal links, there sandals have it all!

For me, Summer is all about wearing comfortable clothes. So that means stocking up on tons of light-weight, soft shirts. J. Crew has so many shirts that can be dressed up & dressed down, which I love.  My two favorites are the linen grey/pink linen baseball tee & the Masterpiece tee-- pair them with some cutoffs or cute white jeans & you are good to go!!!
I also really like the look of pairing a white tank with some really fun printed shorts, then add a pop of color with a linen scarf. This pale pink linen crocheted scarf is gorgeous- I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the this beauty to go on sale.

In The Wilderness...

So lately I have been on this whole "how cool would a camping trip be!?"... 

I am sure everyone that I know is hysterically, non-stop laughing at me right now. The minute I step outside I have some type of allergy attack, I cannot stand bugs, I hate being hot, and I do not like being dirty. So you're probably thinking.. okay, then why the hell would you want to go camping?! Ha! 

Well... thanks to good ole Pinterest, all of my camping fears & concerns have been temporarily washed away. And I truly want to go camping... although I have no desire to go camping right now in the start of Summer, nor do I want to go camping in Florida because it is hot here all year round. I would really love to go camping in the Carolina's somewhere; preferably near the water...in a log cabin, with a shower, and a stove. Just kidding (sort of)!  

So here is what I envision if I ever took a camping trip...

In my camping state of mind, I am thinking that no camping trip would be complete without Camp Brand shirts & some yummy s'mores.

Meatless Mondays

Life has been a little crazy lately & I am sure it will be for the next several months to come. The past few weeks, I have really veered completely away from my normal routine of things. This week I am going to try to get back into the groove of things... one  day  at  a  time!! 

So first things first... Meatless Mondays. There are so many ideas out there for meals that lack meat, which I love. Here are some things that I plan to make over the next few days/weeks... 

Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie

Apple Cinnamon Pancakes 

PB and sliced strawberries toast 

Zucchini Pizza Bites

Zucchini, Black Bean & Rice Skillet 

Roasted Cauliflower and Chickpea Tacos 

In our household it is so hard to get away with meatless meals when you have a meat-lovin' husband like mine, but when you find meals like these it definitely helps. A perk that I have found with meatless meals, is that the preparation time is super short. This is such a plus for busy people like myself.

Happy Birthday Dad!

This time last year... 

I was ordering a Publix birthday cake that said "Happy Birthday Dad!", picking out balloons, and headed down South to celebrate my Dad's 62nd birthday. 

It was a birthday that was very special because we were celebrating my Dad's life & it was one of the few times I have ever been with my Dad on his birthday.

It was a great day... we had done things that we hadn't done since I was a little kid. We laid out on floats in the pool all day long, we laughed a lot, we had dinner together, and we sang Happy Birthday to him. 

I never imagined that his 63rd birthday would come & he wouldn't be here. I never imagined that the video I recorded of us singing him Happy Birthday and him blowing out his candles would be his last, but it was... And it breaks my heart each & every time that I think about it.  

My Dad's life was cut way too short because of cancer. And even though he won't be here to celebrate his 63rd birthday, I will celebrate him.

From this birthday & many more to come, I will celebrate his life. I am going to get a single balloon & attach a note to it & send it up to the skies... This is something that I will do whenever we have kids so they can celebrate their Grandpa's life too.
